I’m Brooke, the founder and practitioner at Natural State Massage, and the proud owner of Rune, my 5-year-old Mustang. Rune has been my greatest teacher, not just in horsemanship but in trust and partnership. I’m endlessly thankful for the lessons he continues to share with me. Our journey together, especially through liberty work and consent-based, positive reinforcement training, has taught me the profound depth of communication and trust that can exist between horse and human. By giving Rune the space to express choice in our interactions, I’ve come to appreciate the quiet moments of dialogue: the subtle shifts in posture, breath, and energy that signal true connection.
This approach has transformed how I engage with every horse in my care. I believe that when we honor a horse’s voice and invite their participation, we build a foundation of trust that leads to more meaningful releases and deeper, lasting results in bodywork. My goal is not just to apply technique, but to work with the horse, listening closely to their feedback and respecting their boundaries throughout every session. Rune reminds me every day that healing is a partnership, and that lesson lives at the heart of my practice.
Natural State Massage is a woman-owned, veteran-owned small business based here on Cape Cod, where I live with my husband, a retired Marine and Purple Heart recipient who has found his creative passion in photography, and our two dogs, Bean and Jinx.
Alongside my work with horses, I enjoy a fulfilling career as an Auditor and am pursuing my degree in Philosophy, Law, and Ethics at UMass Boston. My studies continue to shape my approach to care and practice, grounding my work in thoughtfulness, ethics, and integrity.
Professionally, I bring a decade of experience in human massage therapy, along with 15 years of service as a Combat Medic in the U.S. Army. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and the healing process, knowledge that I now bring to every equine session. I’m currently completing the Equine Massage Therapy Program at the Bancroft School of Massage and preparing for National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure & Massage (NBCAAM) certification, always striving to deepen my understanding of equine wellness.
At Natural State Massage, my mission is to combine clinical expertise with compassionate, individualized care to support each horse as a whole being: physically, emotionally, and energetically. Whether your horse is a competitor, a working partner, or a cherished companion, I would be honored to support their health and well-being.
